BECKETT’S PLACE
Kingston upon Thames | Surrey
Contributing to the plethora of riverside architecture, Beckett’s Place obtained planning approval for a waterfront residential scheme in Kingston upon Thames, in a local conservation area. Located on the western bank of the river Thames, this eight unit scheme will benefit from far reaching views of the town, the river and Bushy park. Nestled amongst an array of nouveau development, the proposal slips sensitively between its neighbours, ensuring the existing properties are not comprised. Development area is maximised through a stepped composition which terminates with a four storey river facing massing. Eight new apartments are set over three floors with ancillary facilities at ground floor/undercroft level.
The facade treatment of the wider scheme has been conceived holistically with materials such as brick and timber, responding to use, outlook and orientation. Facing the river, the vertical grain of the riverside properties is retained; constructed in materials which ensure compatibility and enduring quality. The scheme will convey a contextual sensibility which will be a positive addition to the ever developing riverfront architecture.
