WHITTON TERRACES
Whitton | Surrey

The three storey proposal offered a new take and re-imagination of the terraced typology. Taking on a contemporary aesthetic against the backdrop of a typical suburban street, the stepped architecture allowed for greater development areas; whilst retaining commensurate building, eaves and ridge lines to adjacent neighbouring properties.

Informed by the space planning of span homes, at ground floor, the entry is deeply recessed within the form with the main open plan living and kitchen spaces behind. The first floor clad in long and skinny bricks; the form cantilevered over the parking area containing bedrooms and bathrooms. Some openings are partially obscured by brick jalis which allow a filtered natural light, whilst retaining internal privacy. The second floor is deliberately constructed in a light material - a polycarbonate panelling - where the massing appears recessive against the skyline. A landscaped driveway and garden ensures the scheme contributes to the arboreal feel of the neighbourhood.
